How-do-you-do I have a 2016 encore and was wondering for a oil change when does the information eye on the dash let you know information technology is time. I am currently at 10% oil life remaining. Should I just become and become it done?

Howdy I take a 2016 encore and was wondering for a oil change when does the data middle on the dash let you know information technology is time. I am currently at x% oil life remaining. Should I just go and get information technology done?

My 2019 owner's manual doesn't say when (at what %) the DIC tells one to change the oil. Simply I would agree to modify it at 10%.

"When the Modify ENGINE OIL Soon DIC message displays, have the engine oil and filter changed within the next 1 000 km/600 mi." ---owner'due south transmission

At 10% I would go ahead and get it done since y'all probably take no thought what oil was used. I program to transport out a sample for testing when I change mine to see whats really left in the oil vs what the OLM says since its actually only a time/cycle based procedure.

I only bought a 2019 Encore Sport Touring. It had l miles on information technology when I bought information technology. It arrived in the port of Newark in July 2018. The factory fill of engine oil has been in it for around 2 years now.

My question is... since condensation occurs, should I have the dealer change the oil just to be condom. I am concerned in that location is excess moisture in the crankcase from sitting that long with that small amount of operation (l miles).

Yup, 1 year is the max to leave oil in even with low miles on information technology.

I agree, the longest for non-synthetic in the vehicle is 6 months and synthetic is 1 year afterwards information technology is in the vehicle.

dealer agreed . changed oil and filter no charge. Plus, I still go the one complimentary alter when it is due next fourth dimension.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions on this guys.

When I had my Corvette and used Amzoil I would send a sample to go tested every twelvemonth. I would put maybe a thousand kilometers on that motorcar every summertime. It took seven years for the examination results to come back as probably time to change merely oil still skilful for a FORD. So synthetic oil doesn't degrade that fast in the oil pan particularly garaged kept. My Encore is on it's third yr and 2800 kilometers and I'm not going to waste product money on an unnecessary Mobil1 oil alter. I volition alter the filter at five-6000 Kms and keep going.

When I had my Corvette and used Amzoil I would send a sample to get tested every year. I would put maybe a m kilometers on that automobile every summer. Information technology took vii years for the test results to come back as probably time to change but oil still skillful for a FORD. So synthetic oil doesn't degrade that fast in the oil pan especially garaged kept. The oil assay does not account for all the properties of oil that can degrade parts. An example of this is for some of the Ecotec engines. Longer oil interval accept a much higher percentage of premature timing components failure compared to bourgeois oil change intervals. For well-nigh analysis reports I have seen, the viscosity values are lower than the normal range.
One time the oil has been exposed to wet, acids, etc. the properties start to dethrone. An illustration to this is some of those ultra-pasteurized milks that do not crave refrigeration and can last a long time without opening them. Once you open them, the countdown begins. Of course for oil, it is not that dramatic, but it still happens.

An Oil analysis should tell yous everything about the condition of your oil and how your engine is doing from a wear perspective. I take includded a sample study and at the bottom is a list of what the unlike elements come from.

This sample is from a 98 Ford Expedition 4X4 XLT 5.4 with 11,000 miles on the oil.

"The metals highlighted in the spectral examination are all loftier, though because this is nonetheless a new engine, nix is high enough to show a problem. Silicon is high in the spectral examination due to sealers and sand-casted parts. Wear is high due to burglary. No fuel dilution was present. Insolubles (oil oxiadation) were close to the limits at 0.7% showing that the oil has seen some utilize. Wear and silicon should both improve as this engine gets more than miles on it."

Those are the types of reports that I would get from Amzoil.

Amzoil has different criteria than Blackstone. For Blackstone they utilise SUS Viscosity@210C range should be 69-eighty. Too they include cSt Viscosity@100C.

The oil analysis does not account for all the backdrop of oil that can degrade parts. An case of this is for some of the Ecotec engines. Longer oil interval have a much college pct of premature timing components failure compared to conservative oil change intervals.

My personal experience with 5 previous Ecotec is that they like their oil at the total mark. Whenever information technology was down a notch I would acme information technology off. Otherwise the timing concatenation would starve, heat-upward and stretch. I don't think oil degradation was necessarily the cause.

My personal experience with v previous Ecotec is that they like their oil at the full mark. Whenever it was down a notch I would peak it off. Otherwise the timing chain would starve, rut-upwards and stretch. I don't remember oil deposition was necessarily the crusade.
That might be an issue with the ii.iv Ecotecs, but the 2.0 Ecotecs typically do not use any or very piffling oil between 5K interval oil changes.

Never had a ii.0 liter ecotec. Ane 2.4l (2008 G6) that leaked like a handbasket and four 2.2l ( Cobalts 07,08 and a 10)and now these 2 1.4l turbo.

My 2.4, 166k, in my HHR has a minor leak and has had it for a few years. The 2.2 and 2.four have a carve up block blueprint and information technology is not unheard of to develop a leak along the split, near the starter. That's where mine is just in a higher place the starter and to a higher place the oil sending unit. Mine just leaks a drop hither and there. Never plenty to show low oil on the stick. I've heard of a few where they end up leaking a lot.
